About one hundred kids from Mariam Patel Junior Primary had their lunches provided for them on their very first excursion to Ushaka Marine World on Friday, October 16. This exercise formed part of the Talksure Sponsor-a-Meal drive, in which Talksure provided meals for the kids to commemorate World Food Day. Talksure staff were on hand to distribute the lunch packs to the enthralled kids at Addington Beach.

Talksure’s relationship with Crossroads, has resulted in the latter being able to extend its reach in developing communities and assisting children. In addition, the relationship has been beneficial to Crossroads as their increased activity has allowed them to gain recognition and acquire the confidence of community leaders and its people.

“The lunch was quite the treat for kids who themselves would not be able to afford a packed lunch, because the kids come from an underprivileged area. Talksure met a need and in so doing, gave the children a day they will always remember. Our kids really enjoyed the meals and whilst many were not able to verbally express their excitement, the smiles of delight were a dead giveaway” said Mahendra Singh, Managing Director of Crossroads KZN.

As part of its corporate social initiative, Talksure adopted Crossroads KZN as its charity organisation for the year. Some of Talksure’s work includes the painting of grade R classrooms at Miriam Patel, Thumbela and Tshanyana Primary Schools as well as the sponsoring of a roof and the painting of a Community Hope Centre and Day Care in Iqadi, Durban.

The kids spent the day at Ushaka Marine World and visited the various sites there including the aquarium and were entertained by the aquatic shows they got to see.
